Craft Tip:

Make Your Own Perfume Easily

Ingredients:
1 cup water
1 cup fresh chopped flower blossoms

Directions:

In a bowl place a cheesecloth where the edges are hanging
over the bowl. Fill with 1 cup of flower blossoms of your
choice. Pour water over the flowers until they are completely covered.
Cover and let sit overnight. The next day using the
edges of cheesecloth pull it out of the bowl and gently
squeeze the scented water into a small pot. Simmer the
water until about 1 teaspoon is left. Cool and place into a
small bottle. Making perfume this way has a shelf life
of about one month.

Parent Tip:

Parenting with Bullies by: Teresa King

Bullies are seldom one person. They are usually "they."

When a child is picked on at school for whatever reason
they are being picked on, it is hardly ever the victim that is
the problem.

The problem is how to deal with bullies.

You have probably heard to let children resolve their
own problems. And, in many cases, they can work out
what is going wrong.  However, you are an adult and
should be able to tell the difference of when to step in
and when to let things go.

When a child has to face being taunted every single
day that they go to school, they need someone to teach
them and to help them get out of that unhealthy situation.

Yes, we want our children to learn to stand on their own,
however, there are times when we as parents must
step in and help solve the problem.

This takes going to the source.  The children who are doing
the bullying, and the schools where it is allowed.

Being a bully is almost never done in front of adults or
people in authority. However, it is done in front of peers.

So, now we have several people involved.  And, it is up
to you to stop the bully tactics.

1. When a child is a "victim" have the child call one kid at a
time that is teasing them. Have the child be assertive.
"Jane, I don't like it when you tease me. I want you to stop."

2. When they are being teased. Have the 'victim' look one
child into the eyes.  "Jane, I don't like it when you tease me.
I don't think it makes you feel good about yourself, please
stop."

(Most bullies are cowards. Being singled out, brings attention
to themselves, and the "victim" gets assertive.)

(The child that is teasing, will shrink. For he/she will not
like being singled out, and she/he will know they are doing
wrong.)

3. Parents:  Go to the children's parents.... and talk to them.
Most parents are not even aware that their child is involved
in making another child suffer.

4. Go to the schools, teachers, or whatever group leader,
even the bus driver.. Whatever it takes, and state that you
do not want your child teased.

5. Get the teachers involved in a "stop the bullies program."
Basically, when other children see another child being teased..
most feel sorry for the teased child but do nothing, because
they don't feel they can help.  Give them power to help.

Remember, most children that are being victimized are
"nice"children with kind hearts.  That is the main reason
they are picked on. The COWARD, trusts that the "nice"
person will do nothing, or will react with tears, frustration and
give the bullies more things to tease them about.

Next, let your child know that it is not Him/Her that is the
'victim' and that the bullies will pick on any nice kid for
whatever reason as long as they can get away with it.

"You're fat, you're ugly, you're a moron, you're dress is
ugly, you're stupid...... and on and on the taunts will go.
Regardless of what you have heard about sticks and
stones... NAME calling and a child being singled out
hurts. It hurts, the child's self image. It hurts the child's
desire to go to school or to a community activity. And,
it hurts you knowing your child is hurting or your friend's
child is being hurt. You can get proactive about this and
stop that hurt for your child and other children.

To help stop the hurting for your child, basically, explain
to the 'victim' that anyone can be in  their place, the
bullies don't care as long as they can, tease and in other
ways degrade someone who is too (helpless) to do anything
about it. Make the "victim" realize that it is nothing personal.

You are the one that must change the circumstances. Do
not let your child stand alone.  Create an environment that
is safe for your child.  And, if your child is not being bullied,
make sure he/she is not a bully... and make sure your child
does not stand by and do nothing when they see another
child being taunted.

An example is there is a class of 30... one child is alone
at lunch or at recess.  It is time for the rest of the class to
go sit or play with that child.  Teach your children right from
wrong and when the proper time to be assertive and helpful
to others. Get adults in authority involved and get the passive
kids involved. Nip those bullies in the bud.

Give your children power. And your child will grow up
with high self-esteem and be able to take on the world.

Household Tip:

Use old socks to make a great dust cloth
for reaching behind things and getting to
places that are hard to reach. Just spray
with your favorite furniture polish, directly
on the sock.

For dusting ceilings, tie a rag to your broom
and bust those spiders -)

Car Tip

Change your oil every 3,000 miles.
If you use your car for a lot of short trips,
take it for a drive once in awhile so it can
do what it is supposed to do. Travel!

If planning on purchasing a used car,
check the wear and tear on the pedals.
Lots of wear and tear usually defies the
odometer -)

Tasteful Joke
**************

Three mice are sitting at a bar in a pretty rough
neighborhood late at night trying to impress each
other about how tough they are.

The first mouse pounds a shot of scotch, slams the
glass onto the bar, turns to the second mouse and
says, "When I see a mousetrap, I lie on my back
and set it off with my foot. When the bar comes down,
I catch it in my teeth, bench press it twenty times to
work up an appetite, and then make off with the cheese."

The second mouse orders up two shots of sour mash,
pounds them both, slams each glass onto the bar, turns
to the first mouse, and replies, "Yeah, well when I see
rat poison, I collect as much as I can, take it home,
grind it up to a powder, and add it to my coffee each
morning so I can get a good buzz going for the rest
of the day."

The first mouse and the second mouse then turn
to the third mouse.

The third mouse lets out a long sigh and says to the
first two, "I don't have time for this.  I've got a date
with the cat."

Reader's Questions:

Q. How hard and how expensive is web hosting?
A. Web Hosting can range from free to around $25.00
per month depending on what you want to do with your
site.

The least expensive place to get a domain is
www.godaddy.com  You will need a domain if you
decide to get hosted. You basically rent it for a year,
and renew it, as long as you renew the domain, it
will always be yours.

Pitfalls with free, is, with a free site, the owner can shut
it down and all your pages disappear. With your own
domain name and host, as long as you pay your fees,
you can take your domain anywhere you want.

Most free sites, put a banner on your page.

Learning how to build your own webpage is not hard at
all. In fact,  most people find it quite enjoyable.
There are many free templates on the net, and lots of
fun graphics where you can decide to start a page for
home and family, or for starting a small business on the
net.  Whether you want to start an ancestor page, to
a family page, to a craft's site, you can have fun learning
a skill.

Here is a free html editor that you can learn to use.
LInk withheld for this website newsletter demo.
It is definitely not the best, but it is a great one to get
started learning.

Should you require hosting, just hit reply and ask.
I am online quite a bit.
